Whitetail Shoulder and Pedestal Mounts in Kenosha

A shoulder mount is the classic way to keep a whitetail. Craig has mounted thousands of deer heads over thirty years, and every one gets the same attention: the ear butts, the nose pad, the eye set, the brisket line. Those small things are what make a mount look alive instead of stiff.
Wall pedestal and floor pedestal mounts show more of the neck and shoulder and let the antlers stand off the wall. They are a good choice for a corner, a mantel, or a room where a standard wall mount would feel cramped.
We also mount elk, mule deer, and other big game. Bring the cape, the antlers, and your tag, and we will go over pose options together at drop-off.
When This Is the Right Mount
- Your first buck, a personal best, or an unusual rack you want to see every day.
- You want a pose that matches the animal: alert, sneak, semi-sneak, or a slight turn.
- You have wall space and want the full cape and shoulder, not just the skull.
- You want a pedestal to fit a corner or a table instead of a flat wall.
How It Works

Drop-off and cape inspection
Bring the head and cape fresh or frozen. Craig checks the hide for cuts, slippage, and hair loss, then talks through what pose fits the deer and the room it will hang in.

Deposit and completion month
A 50% deposit holds your place. Deer heads are worked all winter on a first-in, first-out basis, and you get a specific completion month before you leave.

Tanning and forming
The cape goes out for a professional tan. Craig sizes the form to the animal, sets the antlers, and builds the ear, eye, and nose detail by hand.

Finish and pickup
Paint work, final grooming, and a plaque or pedestal base if you chose one. Craig calls when it is ready and walks you through care at pickup.
Field Care Before Drop-Off
- Do not cut behind the front shoulders. A shoulder mount needs the whole cape from the brisket back.
- Never drag the deer by the head or neck. Dragging rubs hair off the exact spots the mount shows.
- Keep it cold. Get it to the shop within 24 hours, or freeze the whole head and cape in a bag.
- Keep tags and paperwork with the animal. You sign at drop-off confirming it was legally taken.

Pricing and Turnaround
Every animal is different, so Craig quotes each mount after inspecting it at drop-off. Hide condition, size, pose, and base all change the work. Call the shop for a quote or bring the animal in.
A 50% deposit holds your place in the queue. Cash or check only. The shop works first-in, first-out and does not offer rush service. You get a specific completion month before you leave, and a call when the mount is ready.
